What an amazing week it has been. We are so happy to finally be married, and so honored to have all of our friends and family share in our wedding.

Your love and support over the years have shaped us into the people we are today, and we are so grateful. I put together a photo montage of us growing up, and growing as a couple, we ran out of time for it at the wedding, I hope you all can enjoy it now.

With love,
Karla and Phil Rose

Hello Sportsfans, Phil Here.

No doubt, loyal honeywineinjuly readers are well aware of the wedding week activities. For those who need a refresher, there's a link in the sidebar.

We are under a week to go and things are moving towards completion, not the least of which is my department- beverages. Man, I love beverages. I've been brewing beer for five years now and these are the tried and true's. Need a little proof? Fine!
Above is the first of the -ahem- quality control samples taken of the wedding beers. A cream ale, this is one of my favorites to pour for non beer nerds. Imagine a budweiser, with a full toasty character, a slight corn aroma and dry enough to taste super subtle bittering. Check out that awesome lacing on the glass! This is one of the four different beers we'll be serving for happy hour and the gettin' down time after dinner

Aside from beer, we'll also be serving local wine furnished from our favorite restaurant and what you see above...The metheglin Karla and I started two years ago. It has really come into its own over the last three months. I'm really happy that we'll have the equivalent of 25 magnums of this lovely sparkling vanilla mead to use for toasts and celebrations this Saturday.

This last week I'll be bottling syrups for DIY italian sodas. We have a few store bought flavors and a couple from our own kitchen, waiting to quench sweet teeth on Saturday.

Hope to see y'all there and in good spirits. If not, I'll point you toward the beverages.

Prost!
-phil

Final days

Hello all, we are so excited to see everyone in just under two weeks! The last couple of months have flown by and I can hardly believe that the big day is almost here, I find myself wondering what we are going to do after the wedding with all of our free time... :)

Here are two things to note for the coming days leading up to the wedding.

First, we've been in contact with a transportation company to arrange a coach from the Renaissance Hotel, to the wedding and back downtown. We think this is a good way to get around as parking at Golden Gardens is occasionally difficult, especially on nice weekends. We'd appreciate a headcount to get the right sized coach.

We're asking you all to give us a heads up if you'll be using the coach. Contact details are below. Cabs are plentiful at downtown hotels and a viable option as well.

Next, Wedding Week Schedule is our schedule for the week. We know that many of you will be in town for a couple of days prior to the wedding and we'd be happy to see everyone. With that in mind we've set up a little Bar-B-Que for the 4th of July, and also noted in the schedule is when and where we plan to go out to eat, anyone is more than welcome to join us!

***Please RSVP by phone, email or text if you plan to join us.

The count down begins, 60 days to go!

I can hardly believe that in just 2 short months our wedding day will finally be here, after being engaged for almost two years, I am so excited to be married. There is still much to do in finalizing our wedding plans, although I'm sure it will all come together soon, especially now that my sister, and Maid of Honor is done with school and now living in Seattle.

As we get closer to the date, I'll post more information on other events I have planned for the week. We would love to spend as much time as possible with all of our friends and family during the week leading up to the wedding, as I'm sure the actual wedding will fly by.

***If you are traveling to Seattle and haven't had a chance to book a hotel room yet, there are still rooms available in our block at the Seattle Renaissance Marriott.  https://resweb.passkey.com/Resweb.do?mode=welcome_ei_new&eventID=9284463

Reservations Toll Free: 877-901-6632

The cutoff to reserve a room at our discounted rate is June 1st. Please feel free to contact Karla at khalstrom@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Looking forward to celebrating with you all soon!

Love,
K

Our Story

Prologue
Or...
Why two people, of sound mind, would ever get married in the modern world.

Sometime before hybrid cars, twitter and dewey decimal system, people realized that they could band together to survive. Over time these survivors may have grown accustomed to their specific mates and sectioned off into little self contained families that flourished with extra hands to gather berries or plow fields.

Karla and Phil do not seem to fit this survivor's mold. They do just fine on their own. Karla is able to find (and consume) enough strawberries to give her allergic fits whether Phil helps or not. Phil is just as likely to spend an entire afternoon grazing on carbohydrate if Karla is home that day or spending time at her real home, Nordstrom. The output does not change.

After some fact checking, the novice would claim Phil and Karla appeared to survive for two decades with zero knowledge of their counterpart. That person is only partially correct.

The people who lived for so long without each other were hardly people at all. They were bodies, survivors, going through the motions of everyday life with no idea what the world really is. Survival is fine for early mankind. Phil and Karla are living gourmands of life. They enhance the sweetest berries into blissful pies and change survivor's grain to the perfect pint.

Separately, they are no more than fools stuffed with raw berries and barleycorn. Together, Karla and Phil elevate the human experience to more than a survival, but instead to the joys that two people can only find with love to unite them into bakers and brewers.

Phil and Karla will marry on July 7th to celebrate all they are now and will be later because they are together.
